“M. Il figlio del secolo” wins the 2019 Strega Prize

Thursday July 4th: Antonio Scurati and his novel M. Il figlio del secolo (Bompiani) win the 73th edition of the Strega Prize. According to tradition, the Amici della domenica met in the garden of the Museo Nazionale Etrusco di Villa Giulia where Helena Janeczek, winner of the previous edition, presided over the polling.

The total amount of both electronic votes and paper cards was 660 and declared Scurati the winner with 228 votes.

This result sums up the 400 Amici della domenica's votes, the 200 votes from abroad selected by 20 Italian Institutes of Culture, the 20 votes of strong readers selected by 20 bookshops associated to the ALI and the 20 votes of libraries, universities and reading clubs.
